The Surgery Scheduler works with the clinical staff, facilities, health plans and patients to ensure surgeries are booked as ordered and patient service is coordinated.

Education / Certification/ Experience

• Preferred previous work experience in surgery scheduling or other related health care field and customer service.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Understanding of the coordination between the physician office and surgical settings to schedule patient and arrange for surgical cases
• Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently
• Ability to understand comprehensive patient exams and treatment plans
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to organize, prioritize and work efficiently
• Working knowledge of an electronic medical record
• Ability to grasp new concepts and skills
• Honesty and integrity

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgery times with multiple facility contacts
• Prior authorizations of procedure for surgeries and/or office procedures
• Schedule pre and post op appointments for patients
• Pre op instructions to patients
• Over view of schedule to ensure both locations are covered by adequate providers
• Confirms surgeries with facilities
• Create new patient charts and encounters for hospital and ER patients
• Maintained and audited the surgery schedule and applied scheduling guidelines in an efficient and equitable manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
