GM Advanced Design California in North Hollywood is looking for a Creative Manager for the Visualization Team who will be responsible for developing digital, audiovisual and immersive representations of the studio's concept vehicles and ideas. These assets, which include photography, videography, CG imagery/video, immersive interactive VR HMD experiences, and HMI/UI implementation, are an integral part of the design development process, and are further used to demonstrate concept narratives both internally and externally. In addition, the team is also focused on researching and innovating new techniques and processes that will improve quality, expand capabilities, and accelerate design development. Responsibilities:
- Work in closely with Design, Sculpting, Management and Executive Leadership
- Lead, develop and nurture a team within the competence areas of Visualization and immersive Technologies
- Develop and harmonize processes and tools to best accommodate the needs of the different business areas
- Influence the cross functional work with other departments and partners
- Coordinate and reinforce the development of high quality visual representations of proposed design solutions
- Collaborate and enhance critical relationships with design studio leaders and diplomatically eliminate roadblocks
- Promote a sense of urgency when design issues arise and propose decisive solutions in concert with cross functional partners to achieve a mutually beneficial solution
- Understand program timelines and be proactive regarding task completion and proper workload
- Adhere to and develop common processes and best practices
- Manage a diverse team of 6-10 multi-media artists consisting of animators, graphic designers, photographers/videographers and generalist
- Provide general creative direction and constructive input on all projects in coordination with design leadership
- Actively participate hands-on in the creation of content as needed
- Provide quality control over all assets to ensure consistent fidelity and proper messaging
- Take initiative to research and present relevant new technologies
- Seek out and engage with vendors to find opportunities for innovative collaboration
- Hire new employees to grow the team in accordance with the needs of an expanding studio

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in design, visualization, computer animation, or other similar field
- 7+ years experience in automotive/industrial design visualization with team/project lead experience
Preferred Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of tools and processes used in 2D/3D workflows
- Understanding of software such as Unreal Engine, VRED, RTT DeltaGen, Maya, Alias, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
- Understanding of automotive design and product development
- Ability to understand team members' proficiencies in order to delegate and help them meet their maximum potential
- Strong sense of aesthetics, with an eye for composition, filmmaking, and interactive experience
- Passion and interest in discovering relevant new tools, technology, and techniques for the team
Preferred Proficiencies:
- Respectful and diplomatic approach to working with other leaders to deliver high quality assets while also preserving the visualization team's work/life balance
- Good communication skills needed to articulate intent and pitch project ideas
- Ability to balance day to day work with research and development activities
- Open to allowing the expertise of specialized employees to inform and evolve the team's process
- Approaches projects holistically, combining concept, narrative, and production quality into final assets
